2023-24 Welcome Letter
August 2023
Roosevelt Community,
The Roosevelt Middle School Parent Teacher Student Association (RMS PTSA) would like to welcome students, teachers, staff, parents, and caregivers to RMS for the 2023-2024 school year. We hope the summer allowed you time to relax, recharge, and reset away from school and work schedules. The PTSA is excited to re-engage our community in support of our students, teachers, and staff.
The PTSA partners with RMS and Beacon staff to work toward our common goal of 1) creating a welcoming environment, 2) building a representative community, 3) collaborating with and supporting teachers and staff, and 4) enriching the academic and social experience of the entire RMS community. Data consistently shows that when parents/caregivers are involved in their student’s educational experience, students are happier and more successful. We recognize that it is not possible for everyone to support our community either financially or through volunteerism. However, there are many other ways to become involved. Please visit our website rmssf.org to discover more. The more people we meet and the more voices we hear, the better we can build a more representative and diverse community.
The PTSA meets on the second Monday of each month from 6:30 - 8:00 pm beginning September 11. Meetings are open to the entire RMS community and everyone is encouraged to attend- students, teachers, staff, parents, caregivers, and their families. Details are communicated via our website rmssf.org, Facebook, and through our regular newsletter. Last year we alternated between Zoom meetings and in-person meetings and this year we will send a survey asking families for their meeting preferences.
Membership in the RMS PTSA is not mandatory but encouraged. Become a member through our online platform at jointotem.com/users/login. This link is also on our website. Annual dues of $10.00 provide you with PTA member benefits as well as supporting local and state PTAs. Members may vote on items and actions presented at our general meetings. We believe cost should not be a barrier to membership so RMS PTSA offers financial aid for those interested. To inquire, please email rmssfptsa@gmail.com.
We look forward to learning how the RMS PTSA can support you this year.
On behalf of the RMS PTSA Executive Board,
Noel Aflague, PTSA President
